New Zealand

                                                         New Zealand

New Zealand is a place with hills all around and beautiful scenery.  The grass grow long and the animals go munch, munch on the delicious grass.  Through the middle of the South Island there is a big cluster of mountains called the Southern Alps.  To get over the Southern Alps you have to go over long windy roads.  The West Coast of the South Island is known for heaps of rain and great walks and quite a few rivers and lakes to swim in.

Visiting the Tundra

                                                     Visiting the Tundra

Dear Jordy
I have just visited the Tundra.  It is completely different to New Zealand with freezing temperatures and no plants anywhere in sight.  If you ever want to go to the Tundra I suggest you pack very warm gear.  The Tundra is a very quiet place where nothing really moves.  I am so missing New Zealand because of the wind in the trees and the sound of the birds fluttering past.

Logging

                                                                       Logging

I don't think logging should be allowed in New Zealand because it causes animals to move out that live in the trees.  Also when the big trees fall and the logging machines run over the land it crushes smaller plants that might be special to New Zealand.

My hotel

                                                             My Hotel

I would make my hotel under the sea so that I could see the fishes swimming past.  I would build it out of glass so that it was strong and waterproof and so that you can see out.  Some places will be made out of stones so that there is some privacy.

  2. What school did you go to when you were a kid?
  3. Did you play sport when you were a kid? If so what sport?
  4. What did it feel like to be the first person to climb Mt Everest?
  5. Why did you start to climb mountains?

Freshwater seals

                                     Freshwater seals

The name of the animal the WWF is working to save is the freshwater seals. The WWF is trying to save this animal because there is only 360 animals left.  The WWF is building snow banks so the pups have some protection against the cold and predators. In previous years half the pups died, but by using snow banks last year 73 out of 82 survived.

DOC ranger

                                                            DOC ranger

The three good things about being a DOC ranger is
  • I would get to be with animals
  • I get to help animals
  • Surrounded by bush, mountains and water.
The three bad things about being a DOC ranger is
  • I wouldn't get to spend time with my pony
  • I would be eaten alive by bugs
  • I would have to help with building tracks
I would like to be a DOC ranger.

The pony/dolphin

                                                    The pony/dolphin

One day I was swimming in the crystal clear water when a two white ears popped out of the water. I looked at the white ears for a few minutes wondering what they were. Then, with a flick of it's dolphin like tail it was gone as fast as it had came. The next day when I came back I saw the two white ears bobbing in the water. Then the animal soared out of the water and onto the beach. The animal was taller than me and looked like a pony and dolphin mixed together. It had the head of a pony, a body of a dolphin and legs of a lion.

Cactus maths problem

                                                          Cactus math problem

If I got a cactus plant I would give it 3ml of water every day for a year. First I worked out how many days there were in a year. Then I multiplied 365 by 3. I worked the answer out by going 300 x 3 = 900, 60 x 3 = 180, 5 x 3 = 15. I added all the numbers together and got 1,095. So I would have to give my cactus 1,095 ml of water a year.

I like the black ferns rugby teams uniform the best because it has no bright colours and looks comfortable to wear.

Tane Mahuta

                                                     Lord of the forest

One day I would like visit Tane Mahuta because I like getting outside and also it would be nice to see New Zealand's tallest tree. I also think it cool to see something that has been there longer than I have.

Digital footprint

Never share my address on line or phone number.  Only post stuff that I am allowed to.  If in doubt ask a parent.

My home town

                                                   My home town

My home town is Greymouth. Greymouth is special to me because it has a lot of great walks and also because they are a few beaches and paddocks to ride ponies in. Greymouth  is surrounded by hills, mountains, trees and rivers, so there is always some place I have not being yet. In the middle of Greymouth there is a movie theatre and a skate park. My family sometimes go for a bike down the cycle trail.

Three fun facts about New Zealand

Three fun facts about New Zealand

1. The Maori name of New Zealand is Aotearoa which means the land of the long white cloud.

3. It was the first major nation to have universal suffrage. In 1893 all male and female citizens are legally allowed to vote.

Alicias farting nosie

On Monday afternoon in room 4 we played Mr Cook's brass instruments

before going to line up at the big horn. The cornet was silver and sounded
the same as the horn. We had a go at the cornet and the horn!

Alicias bubble art

On Friday afternoon Jordy and I did a bubble experiment in room four. We took photos to put in the Kaiata show. First Jordy and I got a bowl to put the milk, oil and food colouring into.We put milk and food colouring in before we poured the oil over the top of the milk and food colouring. Next the colours mixed together and expanded all over the bowl which made bubbles and swirled .Finally Jordy and I took photos of our art work. I felt happy because the photos looked cool. The bubbles moved like a car slowly rolling down a hill.
