Rosa Parks was an African American that was required to sit at the back of the bus because she was 'coloured'. The problem was that the bus driver asked her to move from her seat for a white person. Rosa Parks refused and so was arrested. Then there was a protest where no coloured people went on any bus for many months, so bus drivers had no customers.
Hello again Alicia,
ReplyDeleteRosa Parks must have been very brave to do what she did. Did you know that their protest lasted for 381 days? Segregation was a huge issue in the United States during the 50s and 60s. Can you imagine what it would be like to be told you couldn’t sit, eat, or go to School where you wanted to?
It’s pretty amazing how Rosa’s actions helped to end racial segregation in America. Can you think of a time when somebody treated you unfairly? Sometimes you just have to stand up for what’s right.
Thanks for sharing your blog post Alicia, you are doing a great job working through the Summer Learning Journey :)
