Poem for 1st step on moon

I am so excited this is my first time in space
Going so fast but no wind in my face
So pretty up here, as the moon looms
Big and round, shiny and smooth
Landing with a thud
Hopefully there is no mud!
Climbing down the ladder
Landing with a bump
First step feels like floating
Then I jump up and down gloating
This is the first step on the moon.

  1. Good afternoon Alicia,

Thank you for sharing this! I really enjoyed reading your poem about setting foot on the moon. You have used some very clever rhymes to help make your poem flow. I really liked the lines “first step feels like floating, then I jump up and down gloating”. Have you written many poems before?

I think you have summed up the experience of Neil Armstrong with great accuracy. If you had the opportunity, would you travel to the moon? One day we might have people living there, imagine that!

Great work Alicia, I am very impressed with your poetry skills :)

    Beren
